About OGC
Eight days before nomination papers were due, I found out one person was about to walk into an open seat with no competition. In a democracy, people deserve a choice, so I ran. As the only woman running to represent Somerville in a State House that's only 30% women, standing up matters now more than ever.
Somerville is where I grew up and where my family has lived for four generations. I earned a mechanical engineering degree from UMass Amherst, taking time off to care for my father through the cancer that took him, a cancer his doctors linked to pesticides still sold today. That loss is a large part of why I'm running.
I've waited tables, worked as an assistant plumber, and served in Governor Healey's constituent services office, where I cut through bureaucracy to help thousands of residents through housing, unemployment, and healthcare crises. Most recently, I taught as a substitute at the Kennedy Elementary School in Somerville
Somerville deserves a representative who has lived the challenges our neighbors face. I'm ready to listen, work hard, and fight for real change, together.
Focus Areas
HOUSING
Somerville is where my grandmother was born and where I was raised, and it's becoming a place working people can no longer afford. The service workers, nurses, and caregivers who hold this city together are being pushed out by rents and prices that are climbing faster than their paychecks. I'm committed to expanding access to affordable housing so that residents can stay in the community they built. Owning a home or even keeping an apartment shouldn't be a privilege reserved for the highest bidder. No one should have to leave the city their family helped make.
ENVIRONMENT
Growing up in Somerville, where streets are named after nature (Elm, Willow, Cedar) while the natural world is being harmed by human greed. My father passed away from cancer that doctors believe was caused by pesticides still sold in stores today. Environmental protection is deeply personal. As State Representative, I will fight to bring urban tree canopy grants and rail trails to Somerville, ban toxic pesticides from our communities, and ensure that the state acts with the urgency this moment demands, because we cannot wait for the federal government to protect us.
EDUCATION
Having taught in our schools, I see firsthand how technology is reshaping childhood, and as an engineer I know these tools weren't built with kids in mind. I'm committed to making sure every child in the 27th Middlesex has access to a world-class education, one that builds critical thinking and social skills, protects them from surveillance and algorithmic sorting, and prepares them for an ever-changing world with the kind of judgment no algorithm can teach.
HEALTHCARE
Massachusetts has some of the best hospitals in the world, but having a world-class system nearby doesn't mean everyone can access it. I watched my sister spend three years being dismissed by doctors before finally being diagnosed with severe endometriosis. I held my father's hand through a system that failed our family at every turn. Healthcare equity, women's health, addiction services, and support for caregivers aren't abstract priorities for me. They're personal and they're urgent and need to be fixed immediately.
